FIREWORKS KICK OFF THE PARADE!
At 5:55PM a traditional fireworks display kicks off the evening. The fireworks site is on the jetty near the entrance of the main channel. All boats will begin circling the main channel of the Marina at 6:00 PM.
Carol Costello is this year’s Grand Marshall. She is an award winning journalist and the host of HLN’s Across America with Carol Costello, a two hour news show airing weekdays from 11-1pmET, covering the day’s news and most-talked about stories. She is based in the network’s Los Angeles bureau. Carol is also the first lady of Loyola Marymount Unviversity with her husband being President of the University.
The public can view the parade and listen to live announcements at the end of the Marina Peninsula. Just stroll along the beach and watch the fireworks and then linger and watch the decorated xmas parade of boats.

This popular series of FREE 90 minute outdoor concerts is held each summer in one of the most spectacular waterfront settings in Los Angeles, Burton Chace Park. Thursday evening symphonic concerts feature world class artists appearing with the Marina del Rey Symphony, conducted by its Musical Director Frank Fetta. On alternate Saturdays, the concerts bring to the Marina stellar artists from the worlds of pop and jazz.

Come learn face yoga as natural alternative to botox or plastic surgery! Like your body, face has many muscles that start sagging with age. In fact, only 20% of the entire facial muscles are actively used by regular facial expression. So the idea of face yoga is to wake up the sleeping muscles for anti-sagging. You will also learn how to train and stretch your facial muscles, which is the key for elasticity. You might see some immediate difference so bring your phone to take before-after selfies! Bonus: As facial muscles are close to brain, face yoga stimulates brain functions as well.
When it comes to resolutions, losing weight seems to be at the top of everyone’s list. According to Static Brain, a whopping 42.4% of people never succeed and fail on their New Year’s resolution each year. That means nearly half of the population end their year feeling defeated and perhaps resentful that their goals were not met. A resolution to lose weight should not be looked at as just a goal, but rather a lifestyle change. And lifestyle changes do not occur overnight. They take hard work, discipline and a plan for success. Taking up a yoga and/or meditation practice can help you minimize stress during your transition to a healthier lifestyle. Here’s a few ways to help you stay on track with your weight loss goal in order to finish the year strong.
Be honest with yourself
When it comes to your health, you have to be honest with yourself and acknowledge where and why you are dissatisfied with your current state. Do you tend to overeat to cope with stress or unhappiness? When was the last time you felt confident about your outward appearance? What do you need to do to bring that type of confidence back into your life? Now is the time to dig deep and find those answers. For many, a new year represents a fresh start and a new outlook. Bringing all your truths to light will aid you in releasing your past habits while propelling you forward to live your best life. Acknowledge and appreciate the past for leading you up until this point and march boldly into the future you want for yourself.
Remember your “why”
Why do you want to lose weight? Is it to be able to run freely after your kids and to play catch with them at the park? Is it because you are tired of feeling winded while climbing stairs? Do you want to lose weight because you don’t agree with what you see in the mirror? Think about what form of happiness and relief you would feel if you could just shed the unwanted pounds. Think about the feeling of elation you will have when you have accomplished your resolution. This is your why. You will need to keep this in your mind at all times, but especially in the moments of temptation and weakness that may occur to derail you from your goal.
When you fall, get back up again
You are human, and all humans make mistakes. Every day will not go as planned and every meal you eat won’t have the perfect amount of greens and grains. There will be times when you have the intention to go to the gym and for whatever reason, you don’t make it. That’s okay —things happen. Do not let moments like these send you on downward spiral and make you feel that your New Year’s resolution was a bust. No matter how many times you fall, you must get up and keep going. Falls happen. Make getting back up your habit. As long as you keep putting the proper effort into losing weight, you will see results. You are the only person that can guarantee that. Celebrate your successes, no matter how small, and always be sure to practice self-care. Giving your body and mind time to rest will help you stay on track and let your body release toxins and recover more quickly without overburdening your system. Treat yourself to a massage or Ayurvedic body treatment to soothe and balance your body.
As you can see, having a resolution to lose weight is not just a physical ambition. It really takes a lot of mental stamina to hold yourself accountable and get the results you desire.
