The spa industry has embraced the concept of environmental sustainability as a natural part of its dedication to health and wellness. Creative Chakra inspires eco-friendly practices.

Our standards at Creative Chakra Spa:

Infrared Sauna cost about $6 a month compared to a $42 bill for a regular sauna. Naturally antiseptic as it is made of Cedar so we're not using harsh chemicals. Infrared has the same heat frequency as the sun without the harmful UV rays.

The Ozone Hydrotherapy Spa is cleaned with ultra-violet and ozone, the barest trace of chemicals necessary, it's PH Balanced with sodium bicarbonate. We are not polluting the water source with chemicals going back into the water system. It does not have off gases from chemicals and the Ozone turns into pure oxygen.

Spider plants is a natural and plants in general at the Spa clean the air for clients to breathe.

We do not have air conditioning. We are fortunate to have the benefits of the ocean air.

The Steam Room uses pure essential natural oils and it is cleaned down after each person, and ventilated. In regular steam rooms the essential oils are diluted with alcohol in order to permeate the steam air throughout the tiled area. Also, bacteria and mold grow within the tile and grout in regular steam rooms, if not cleaned properly. The multitude of many people coming in and out of the steam room and all breathing in and out the same steam air is not an occurrence at Creative Chakra as we book out the steam room specifically for you.

Green products. The floors are cleaned with white vinegar and baking soda is often used on surfaces, baking soda can also be used as toothpaste as it is non-invasive. Can also be used to reduce wash powder usage in the laundry. Using fewer chemicals again. We use our own, non-toxic miracle spray for windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces. In winter we use radiant heaters that immediately heat the area around the client and not the whole room, so it is really energy efficient and effective. We have our own on-site laundry so we don't go to the dry cleaners or have a service, which would use fuel to pick up and drop off. Also, from a sanitary perspective this is ideal because linens are not left to go moldy or mildew. They are immediately cleaned.

Facials, using plant based products with no chemicals or additives.

We don't buy bottled water, and use our own PUR filter system, to fill our water coolers, which are also in porcelain dispensers therefore, not sitting in plastic for a couple of weeks at a time. They are smaller than regular dispensers in order to be refilled more frequently with fresh water on a consistent basis throughout the week.

We recycle.

We maintain sanitary and cleanliness on a daily basis thereby eliminating the use of toxic chemicals to clean.

We have bamboo wood floors, and laminate flooring. Laminate flooring has a protective coating on it, so excessive cleaning is not necessary, and is great for high traffic areas.

No glues for the wood flooring just tongue and groove. The Bamboo flooring is a sustainable plentiful, plant.

In our hydrotherapy room we have a stone floor. With the wooden floors, just daily cleaning is necessary. No carpets. No area rugs. No allergies for people who are sensitive to dust and pollen, etc...

We don't keep our store lights on all the time, we don't keep our electricity on all the time, we are conscious of not using excessive electric. We pay use green power from DWP. We use energy efficient bulbs. And we use energy star appliances for the laundry and the refrigerator. Even though we do have AC we do not use it.   We use soy candles for light, whenever possible.

We use local skilled licensed massage therapists who bike to work about %90 of the time.

We do not use fragrances or perfumes. We have a renowned aromatherapy product line. We use aromatherapy to clean the air. The bath fresheners are made of aromatherapy.

We don't use disposable slippers, or paper towels.

No chemicals used in spa treatments. Or any anti-aging treatments.

With practicing yoga, and keeping the stress levels down of people who work at the spa, we are creating an environment where people do not have to turn to aspirin etc. We give discounts to employees for seminars yoga, treatments, facilities, sometimes free, so they can truly walk the talk of natural health care.

We serve organic food and buy seasonal produce. We frequent our local farmer's market to support our local California farmers.

We are centrally located in Los Angeles, so it is convenient and we encourage people to leave the smog areas of Los Angeles, and cleanse their lungs with the ocean air.

We use California and local resources for production of our packaging of our aromatherapy products.

We don't use faxes. We email receipts, billing etc. We give the customer an option of a paper receipt or an email receipt.

We support our local businesses by frequenting them via bike or foot.

Goals:

We are currently researching non-toxic pedicures and manicures for our bridal spa parties. Currently, we do these mainly for the bridal spa parties. It is done outdoors on the lanai, and therefore well ventilated.

Researching, non-toxic waxing materials.

Under the non-toxic product line we are currently researching non-toxic toothpaste.
